An evening we were honoured to host. Riya and Aarav chose Shree Ganga Cottages for their ring ceremony — an intimate celebration of families coming together, with the apple orchards glowing under fairy lights, the Beas river humming in the distance, and the mountains standing witness as the couple exchanged rings.
The Ring Ceremony
Sagai — where two families become one
The ring ceremony, or Sagai, is the first official celebration of a couple’s journey together. It is the moment when a promise made between two hearts is shared with everyone who loves them — parents, grandparents, cousins, and friends — and sealed with the exchange of rings.
At Shree Ganga Cottages, Riya and Aarav’s sagai unfolded on our open lawns as the evening sun dipped behind the Kullu mountains. The families arrived to the beat of the dhol, elders blessed the couple with tilak and shagun, and as the fairy lights came alive, the two slipped rings onto each other’s fingers to cheers, laughter, and a shower of rose petals.
Roka & Tilak
Elders of both families bless the couple with tilak, rice, and sweets — the formal “yes” to the union.
Exchange of Rings
The heart of the evening — rings exchanged under a floral mandap with the mountains as witness.
Shagun & Gifts
Families exchange shagun, sweets, dry fruits, and gifts as a token of love and new bonds.
Cake & Mithai
A cake cutting, mithai for every guest, and the first dance of the newly engaged couple.

Guests were welcomed on the lawns with marigold garlands, a traditional tilak, and refreshing Himalayan mint coolers as the two families met and mingled.

Under a canopy of fairy lights and a floral mandap, Riya and Aarav exchanged rings amid blessings, cheers, and a shower of rose petals from the families.

A live dhol welcome, followed by family performances and a dance floor that stayed full late into the night with the mountains as a backdrop.

A curated multi-cuisine spread — Himachali dham, tandoor favourites, live chaat counters, and a dessert table — served on the open lawns.
